About the Press
Editora CLAEC is the publishing imprint of the Latin American Center for Cultural Studies – CLAEC, a think tank and a Scientific, Technological and Innovation Institution dedicated to fostering critical thinking about Latin America. Its primary mission is the dissemination and safeguarding of academic and artistic publications, ensuring that the knowledge produced achieves wide circulation and long-term permanence.
With its own editorial identifiers (ISBN 93548 and 86746 and DOI 10.23899), we are responsible for the entire editorial cycle, from the reception of manuscripts to their publication in digital or printed formats. Committed to the democratization of knowledge, all our works are made available in open access, ensuring visibility and impact for research conducted by CLAEC and its institutional partners.
Focus and Scope
Our catalogue reflects the central objective of CLAEC: to analyze and debate cultural, social and educational actions, projects and public policies in Latin America. Publications should therefore engage with contemporary challenges in the region, with emphasis on regional integration, cultural diversity and social transformation. We prioritize works aligned with our research lines that contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the Humanities and Social Sciences.
Peer Review Process
To ensure excellence, originality and rigor in our catalogue, all submitted works undergo a rigorous evaluation process:
1. Preliminary review: Editors conduct an initial assessment of the manuscript’s alignment with the editorial focus and scope.
2. Double-blind peer review: Works approved in the first stage are sent to at least two ad hoc reviewers or members of the Editorial Board who are specialists in the subject matter. The process follows a blind review system, without identification of authorship, to ensure impartial evaluations.
3. Editorial decision: The final decision regarding publication is based on the reviewers’ reports. In cases of divergent opinions, the work may be sent to a third reviewer. The editorial team’s decision is final and communicated to the author.
Authors are responsible for the grammatical and orthographic revision of their texts, as well as for the concepts and opinions expressed. The publisher reserves the right to select the works to be published, ensuring the quality and relevance of its catalogue.
